Will Self began his talk on Thursday by saying how happy he was to be in the most beautiful modernist building in the UK and then added - but you all know that! And beautiful it was - the sun was glinting on the sea and the building and people had gathered outside on the balcony to catch the last rays with a drink before going in to the auditorium. Will himself needed no introduction and launched straight into a riff about "phoney" his mobile phone to remind us all to turn our phones off. It was a great evening of dry wit and stories including readings from his book Psycho-geography. The audience loved it! More literary evenings like this to come...
